The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury welcomes the passing of the Adjustments Appropriations Bill by the Legislature on Tuesday, 14 December 2021.
The Adjustments Bill provides for the necessary shifting of funds between and within the departments and allocates budgets to other critical areas of service delivery for the year ending 31 March 2022.
Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Mr. Vusi Mkhatshwa emphasized the importance of deploying provincial budget to programmes that address the deep-rooted inequalities in society, which transform the economy for inclusive growth and create a conducive environment for job creation.
"We are determined to ensure that every cent invested in government programmes leads to the maximum achievement of socio-economic objectives", said MEC Mkhatshwa.
He said the Adjustments Budget is about creating employment opportunities for the youth and fast-tracking key programmes that will improve the provincial economy and livelihoods of society.
"It builds on existing allocations to sustain critical provincial programmes that respond to the pressing needs of the society, education system and the economy while supporting the continuing efforts to implement the vaccination programme so that we can all go back to normal", said MEC.
The Bill will now be submitted to Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane to assent before it becomes a law that authorizes spending and accounting requirements for different programmes, including those specifically outlined in the Adjustments Budget statement.
