MEC KHOLWANE, BUSINESS COMMUNITY ENGAGE ON GOVERNMENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Mr Sikhumbuzo Kholwane has promised local business communities that Provincial government will deliver services closer to them irrespective of their location. He was addressing local business people from Siyabuswa and the surroundings areas during the Business Engagement Session held earlier in April 2019.

MEC Kholwane said the meeting with business community in Siyabuswa is part of the ongoing business engagement programme in various municipalities of the Province. “We are here in the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality to have an open discussion with you, because the Government recognises the important role that business community can play in growing the provincial economy”, said MEC Kholwane.

One of the issues raised by business community was the inhibitive costs of travelling to Nelspruit for tender briefings hence they requested the Provincial Government to consider hosting such briefings in offices located in Siyabuswa. While business representatives welcomed the decision of the Provincial Treasury to move its tender office from Marapyane to Siyabuswa last year, they argued that this office needs to be strengthened to deliver complete tender support service.

MEC Kholwane said the Provincial treasury will look at this request and provide feedback at a later stage. He also indicated that similar engagements with stakeholders will be held throughout the province are part of a programme to engage users of government services on how best to serve them.

“The Provincial Government will continue to have similar platforms of engagement with you until we get it right. I can assure you that your government will respond to your requests to bring services closer to you,” said Kholwane.
