Mpumalanga Finance MEC, Madala Masuku has urged corporate business to invest in rural communities and supporting financial improvement programmes to ensure prosperous future for all.

MEC Masuku was speaking after his meeting with the Provincial management of Nedbank in Nelspruit (Mbombela) on Tuesday, 03 June 2013, where various initiatives of the bank towards provincial economy were discussed.

He said corporate business can make meaningful contribution to development of society by channeling resources to augment current initiatives such as the government’s flagship Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP).

“The Comprehensive Rural Development programme should be a bigger base for social responsibility programmes of the business sector if we are to make a serious impact in the Province’ socio economic profile.

“The corporate sector should also use the current relationships with both Provincial government and Municipalities to impact on areas of financial management. The latter is critical in ensuring wholesome credibility in the value chain of business–government relation in the Province,” said MEC Masuku.

The meeting deliberated on various areas in which corporate sector can contribute to government delivery programme such as access to funding; supplier development, consumer education and youth development amongst others.
