MBOMBELA: MEC Sikhumbuzo Kholwane has reassured the people of Mpumalanga that the provincial government will continue to prioritize its spending on provision of service delivery in the next financial year.

“The current economic climate and challenges impels the provincial government to continue with its cost curtailment measure aimed at improving the provision of basic service delivery to our people”

Kholwane said this during the tabling of Provincial Budget Speech at Ehlanzeni District Council yesterday.

This will according to Kholwane endorse Premier David Mabuza’s assertion to implement rationalization process aimed at ensuring equitable distribution and utilization of available resources are driven towards service delivery priorities

“To achieve this, the provincial government will re-enforce cost curtailment measure with exception to both department of Health and Education,” he said.

Kholwane added provincial government will also introduce or strengthen various measures to improve efficiencies, secure value for money and prevent leakages of resources in the Provincial Government.

“During the 2015/16 financial year over 233 million Rand savings were generated from freezing vacant funded posts”
