THURSDAY,​ ​7​ ​DECEMBER​ ​2017​ ​~​ ​MEC​ ​for​ ​Finance,​ ​Economic​ ​Development​ ​and​ ​Tourism, Mr​ ​Sikhumbuzo​ ​Kholwane​ ​will​ ​tomorrow​ ​(08​ ​December​ ​2017)​ ​confer​ ​awards​ ​to​ ​outstanding volunteers​ ​and​ ​civil​ ​servants​ ​who​ ​represented​ ​their​ ​community​ ​well​ ​during​ ​2017​ ​year.

This​ ​annual​ ​event​ ​which​ ​is​ ​organized​ ​and​ ​hosted​ ​by​ ​Izwelethu​ ​Development​ ​Trust​ ​is​ ​aimed to​ ​recognize​ ​hardworking​ ​citizens​ ​who​ ​through​ ​their​ ​dedication​ ​to​ ​public​ ​duty​ ​contributed​ ​to social​ ​justice​ ​within​ ​the​ ​community​ ​of​ ​Matsulu.

“We​ ​are​ ​a​ ​development~oriented​ ​entity​ ​which​ ​is​ ​grounded​ ​on​ ​developing​ ​and​ ​growing​ ​the stature​ ​of​ ​young​ ​people​ ​to​ ​be​ ​credible​ ​servant​ ​leaders​ ​in​ ​public​ ​and​ ​community​ ​service”

“This​ ​organizational​ ​orientation​ ​places​ ​an​ ​obligation​ ​on​ ​us​ ​to​ ​also​ ​recognize​ ​individuals​ ​and groups​ ​that​ ​demonstrated​ ​service​ ​excellence,​ ​lived​ ​up​ ​to​ ​the​ ​expectations​ ​of​ ​society​ ​and upheld​ ​the​ ​values​ ​of​ ​community​ ​centrism”,​ ​said​ ​MEC​ ​Kholwane.

The​ ​awards​ ​will​ ​be​ ​given​ ​in​ ​six​ ​categories​ ​which​ ​are​ ​health;​ ​education;​ ​sports;​ ​emergency medical​ ​services;​ ​social​ ​development;​ ​and​ ​safety​ ​and​ ​security.

The​ ​overall​ ​winner​ ​stands​ ​to​ ​walk​ ​away​ ​with​ ​more​ ​than​ ​R10​ ​000​ ​and​ ​other​ ​prisee​ ​during​ ​the night​ ​of​ ​local​ ​legends.

During​ ​the​ ​past​ ​eight​ ​(8)​ ​years,​ ​Izwelethu​ ​Development​ ​Trust​ ​provided​ ​bursaries​ ​to underprivileged​ ​students,​ ​assisted​ ​in​ ​building​ ​homes​ ​for​ ​the​ ​needy,​ ​and​ ​donated​ ​hundreds​ ​of school​ ​uniforms​ ​and​ ​sports​ ​attire​ ​to​ ​tens​ ​of​ ​citizens​ ​in​ ​Matsulu​ ​as​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​contribution​ ​to the​ ​vision​ ​of​ ​an​ ​inclusive​ ​society.
