MEC Majuba tables departmental plan for fiscal management
The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury tabled the Annual Performance Plan for the 2024/25 fiscal year to the Portfolio Committee on Finance on Tuesday.
The plan expresses the departmental policy priorities with related measurable objectives on financial administration and governance.
Finance MEC, Mr Bonakele Majuba, said the plan takes forward policy imperatives on budget planning and execution in the context of the Provincial Appropriations Bill tabled earlier this year.
The plan that we have the honour to introduce sets out clear objectives and strategies that are geared towards:
effective management of the departmental and provincial budget,
optimisation of our supply chain policy through transformative goals,
deliberate intention to leverage the technology advancements to improve financial administration and
effective support to enhance financial governance practices for accountable government.
MEC Majuba said the Provincial Treasury will advocate for the efficient use of public resources and promote good governance agenda in the province.
“We will promote robust financial governance practices to ensure compliance with law and accountability on the use of public resources.
MEC undertook to support the work with all institutions, including the Office of the Auditor General, to “give ourselves a reasonable chance to succeed in achieving clean governance across public institutions”.
