PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT PUBLISHES FIRST COVID-19 EXPENDITURE REPORT


The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury has today (Wednesday, 19 August 2020) published the expenditure report on COVID-19 related procurement for the first quarter of 2020/21 financial year.

The report gives details of suppliers and amount paid in procuring works, goods and services by provincial institutions as part of the Provincial Government's response to COVID-19 pandemic in since April 2020.

The Provincial institutions (Legislature, Departments and public entities) spent allocated resources on Personal Protection Equipment items such as gloves, masks, respirators, visors, covers, thermometers as well as sanitizers and disinfectants products. Other categories of spending in the report include the provision of infrastructure for water and sanitation; accommodation of health practitioners; supplies for quarantine sites as well as food parcels for targeted communities, amongst others.

As at the end of June 2020, all seventeen (17) Provincial institutions spent R610,1 million on COVID-19 related items.

The Provincial Treasury will publish the expenditure report on COVID-19 related procurement every quarter in compliance with Constitutional requirement and commitment to transparency.
