Vaalbank – The MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr. Eric Kholwane donated winter blankets and stoves to four impoverished families in Libangeni, Siyabuswa.

The donations are part of the Department’s contribution to the legacy projects that are incorporated in the Provincial Government’s programme of commemorating and celebrating the youth month.

The visibly excited families received their donation on Monday, 16 June 2014 at the Libangeni sports ground during the commemoration event of the youth of 1976.

The four beneficiaries, one among them a child-headed, were identified by the Community Development Workers (CDW’s) and the local councilors.

An overjoyed Ms. Emmy Magasa couldn’t hold her tears as she thanked MEC Kholwane and the government for the warm gesture to the beneficiaries.

“I am glad that I will be able to cook everything at once without shifting my pots. Thanks for the blankets; they really will make a difference as it is cold now, “said Ms. Magasa

MEC Kholwane encouraged the youth to uphold the legacy of the youth of 1976 and to exercise their rights to seek and access adequate information to help shape their life and career goals.

He emphasized the importance of education in building a prosperous future for the youth and their communities.

“The future of this country is in your hands, said MEC Kholwane

He urged the youth to stand up and be counted amongst the entrepreneurs who will help in improving the socioeconomic situation of the communities.

“The young people must stand up and use their energy to knock at all doors for opportunities to advance their careers and business aspirations,” advised MEC Kholwane.
