Mpumalanga Finance MEC to table the 2008 Provincial adjustment budget.
Mpumalanga Finance MEC, Mr J.L (Jabu) Mahlangu will table the 2008 Provincial Adjustment Budget Appropriation Bill to the Provincial Legislature as scheduled underneath.
The tabling of the Adjustment Budget is an annual event, which follows the Mid-Term review to access the performance of the Provincial Government in relation to service delivery against expenditure.
It is a requirement according to Section 31 of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) 1 of 1999(as amended by Act 29 of 1999)
In March 2008, the MEC for Finance tabled the Provincial Budget amounting to R19 billion, to be used for the requirements of the Provincial Government.
It is against this backdrop, that it is necessary to review expenditure against the voted amount of R19 billion, to access whether there is a need to increase or decrease the budget already allocated to Departments. Departments will only receive additional funding, if they can prove that they will spend their budget, including the possible increment (adjusted budget).
