Finance MEC to engage learners and communities on budget allocation processes

Mpumalanga Finance MEC, Hon Mrs Mmathulare Colemen will address secondary school learners and community members in the Province in a series of budget Izimbizo aimed at creating awareness around budget allocation issues as a run-up to the tabling of the Provincial budget for 2008/2009 financial year.

The Izimbizo form part of the MEC’s Provincial Budget 2008/2009 Outreach to communities. They will be enlightened on the process involved in allocating available funds. Communities will be afforded opportunities to express their aspirations and what they expect to see provided for, in the forthcoming Provincial Budget.

The Izimbizo is also targeting learners in Grade 9-12 studying commercial subjects with the aim of encouraging them to pursue commercial studies at higher learning institutions.

Details of the roadshows are as follows:

  1. Monday, 25 February 2008- Nkangala District- Kwaggafontein Community Hall
  2. Thursday, 28 February 2008- Gert Sibande District-Ermelo Civic Centre
  3. Friday, 29 February 2008- Ehlanzeni District-Nelsville Community Hall (Nelspruit)
