Phosa speaks to communities about provincial budget

Mpumalanga MEC for Finance, Mrs Pinky Phosa will address the members of the community during a series of budget road-shows in the province.

The road-shows are aimed at creating awareness about the public sector budgeting process and to enable members of the community to shape the presentation of the provincial budget for the financial year of 2012/13.

“Public participation in the process of preparing a budget is an important requirement that advances the constitutional values and Batho Principles which are the foundation of people-centred government," said MEC Phosa.

Mrs Phosa will listen and engage the community with a view to ensure that the Provincial Budget is also responsive to the wishes of the people of Mpumalanga.

The programme of public engagement on the provincial budget is as follows:

  • Monday, 27 February 2012 – Elukwatini, Dr Albert Luthuli Municipality
  • Wednesday, 29 February 2012 – Ermelo, Gert Sibande District

Mpumalanga citizens are also requested to send their inputs for the provincial budget speech to info@mpg.gov.za; fax to 013 766 9449 or alternatively deliver hand written inputs to the regional offices of the department in KwaMhlanga, Bushbuckridge, Evander, Middleburg, Elukwatini and Tonga.
