Mpumalanga's employment level breaches record

Addressing the media on the state of provincial finance report, the MEC for Finance, Mr Madala Masuku said the Province recorded an employment level in the second quarter of 2013, in excess of million.
“Mpumalanga recorded an employment level (in the second quarter of 2013) above the 1 million level – for the first time ever!
The latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) of Statistics South Africa, indicated that Mpumalanga performed well in the labour market on a quarterly and also on an annual basis.
The net job creation for Mpumalanga was 33 000 jobs in the second quarter of 2013. This figure was the highest among the 9 provinces and represents one third of the net job creation nationally.
According the MEC Masuku, Mpumalanga also recorded the third highest job creation figure (49 000 jobs) in the country on an annual basis and the joint second highest employment growth (5.2 per cent) in the same period.
The provincial unemployed rate remained the same in the second quarter of 2013 at a relatively high level of 29.4 per cent.
