Mpumalanga Finance MEC commemorates Mandela week by donating food parcels and clothing to the needy

09 July 2010

As part of celebrating Mandela Day on Saturday, 18 July 2010, Mpumalanga Finance MEC, Mrs Y.N (Pinky) Phosa, will spent more than 67 minutes of her time embarking on a week long campaign in Pixley Ka-Seme Municipality as part of her constituency work.

Most communities live in nearby farms without life document. On Tuesday the 13th and Wednesday the 14th, the MEC will host an Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme (ICROP) in an attempt to address the situation.

This will see important stakeholders such as the Department of Home Affairs, South African Police Services, Justice and Social Development (SASSA) coming together in a service delivery campaign.

The MEC will also visit a child headed family in Daggakraal. It is a family of four children with an 18 year old acting as the head of the family. Both parents died from Aids related illness and they now live in a one room muddy house which can fall again at anytime due to its quality and the poor type of the material used.

The event will be on the Thursday the 15th and on the Sunday 18th, the MEC and her entourage will proceed to Amersfoort and roll-out their 67 minutes campaign at Skhethi’khuhle Stimulating centre. The team will do the painting on the structure and clean the outside parameters.

The Media is invited to cover the events.
