Mpumalanga has spent 80 % of it's R15, 8 billion budget for the 2005/2006 financial year as at the end of January 2006

The Provincial Government of Mpumalanga has spent almost 80% (R12, 643 billion) of its adjusted budget of R15, 882 billion by the end of January 2006 (the tenth month of the current financial year). Expenditure for capital is at 66, 7% of the adjusted budget, or R874, 2 million of R1, 310 billion.

The Department of Roads and Transport is the highest spender at 85, 4%. It has spent R843 million of the R987 allocated budget, followed by the Department of Public Works at 85, 2%. It has spent R257 million of the R302 million allocated budget.

Social services cluster expenditure

The Department of Health and Social Services has spent almost 82% or R5, 483 billion of its adjusted budget of R6, 763 billion, whereas the Department of Education has spent 80% of its budget of R5, 964 billion. The Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation has spent 75, 3% of its budget. The average expenditure of the Social Services Cluster Departments is 79% or R10, 3 billion of the cluster budget of R12, 8 billion.

Economy, investment and employment cluster expenditure

On average, the five cluster Department, that is, Finance; Economic Development and Planning; Agriculture and Land Administration; Roads and Transport; and Public Works have spent 78% (R1, 783 billion) of their R2, 220 billion allocated budget.
