Finance MEC Phosa to hand over school bags to leaners

Mpumalanga MEC for Finance, Mrs YN “Pinky” Phosa will, on Monday, 17 January 2011, hand out new school bags to 270 learners in Wakkerstroom, Pixley ka Seme Local Municipality.

The donation of school bags to the learners forms part of the MEC’s social responsibility programme, which is a vehicle for social change and a way of giving back to the community and her constituency.

“We teamed up with ABSA’s corporate social investment (CSI) initiatives in order to assist where we can to make the early days of 2011 academic year more pleasing to the learners, ” said MEC Phosa.

The project is meant to augment the provincial “Back-to-School” campaign championed by the Department of Education and the Office of the Premier.

The donation is a confirmation of the rich culture of giving that corporate SA has embraced in the recent times.
